Questioning margins is cliché. Questioning LTV never should be.

“When life hands you lemons, make lemonade? No. First you roll out a multi-media campaign to convince people lemons are incredibly scarce, which only works if you stockpile lemons, control the supply, then a media blitz. Lemon is the only way to say “I love you,” the must-have accessory for engagements or anniversaries. Roses are out, lemons are in. Billboards that say she won’t have sex with you unless you got lemons. You cut De Beers in on it. Limited edition lemon bracelets, yellow diamonds called lemon drops. You get Apple to call their new operating system OS-Lemón. A little accent over the “o.” You charge 40% more for organic lemons, 50% more for conflict-free lemons. You pack the Capitol with lemon lobbyists, you get a Kardashian to suck a lemon wedge in a leaked sex tape. Timotheé Chalamet wears lemon shoes at Cannes. Get a hashtag campaign. Something isn’t “cool” or “tight” or “awesome,” no, it’s “lemon.” “Did you see that movie? Did you see that concert? It was effing lemon.” Billie Eilish, “OMG, hashtag… lemon.” You get Dr. Oz to recommend four lemons a day and a lemon suppository supplement to get rid of toxins ‘cause there’s nothing scarier than toxins. Then you patent the seeds. You write a line of genetic code that makes the lemons look just a little more like tits… and you get a gene patent for the tit-lemon DNA sequence, you cross-pollinate… you get those seeds circulating in the wild, and then you sue the farmer for copyright infringement when that genetic code shows up on their land. Sit back, rake in the millions, and then, when you’re done, and you’ve sold your lem-pire for a few billion dollars, then, and only then, you make some fucking lemonade. “

Wouldn’t it be beautiful to simply have that mindset, spirit and capability to that level and innately, that anyone would find themselves lucky to be around and able to support on whatever is needed, in those times in life when the lemons turn up, because they’d wanna learn the know-hows too, and what would possibly be the secret ingredients to this and that and the other.

The way the writing was wrapped up, immediately reminded me of that “quote” from the respective part of the series, which I no doubt highly recommend, for a tone of other masterpieces of “quotations” alike to begin with and the story itself that is full of - how to use the most far-fetched ideas and turn them into something actually useful and beautifully done so, and the suspense following the character - everyone knows whodunit, except for the poor victims.

Pardon me for the completely off-topic tangent, but it’s worth the watch, I highly recommend it.

The quotes are presented in quotes to declare that in loyalty to their creator and designer, they are being used for their intents and purposes and completed by illustrating that the orator is not the author of the material that is being shared albeit unlike in its most commonly used volume, as it was indeed not designed for it to be imminently limited to a single phrase only, like imagined in modern days for it to have been the case, again, it was not, ask the guy if in doubt, you can call him.

This post is weird. If you think questioning margins is wrong, you either don't care to respond or respond with a convincing argument. This article is so not a16z quality.
