Ambiguity being non-neutral is the sharper insight than “regulation is needed” — a legal gray zone doesn’t sit empty, it gets occupied by whoever’s willing to move fastest and care least, which is exactly the dynamic that made pre-SSL e-commerce a mess before standards existed.

Yeah, I agree that the SSL parallel says it all. Ambiguity is never neutral, it just hands the market to whoever cares least about rules, and I found that same pattern building my own systems.
